Mark 14

Today we are reading Mark 14. In this chapter we read about the events of the night when Jesus was betrayed. The keyword for this chapter is “pa-ra-di-do-mi”. The definition is “to deliver over”. “Then Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went to the chief priests in order to betray him to them. And when they heard it, they were glad and promised to give him money. And he sought an opportunity to betray him.” Mark‬ ‭14:10-11‬ ‭ESV‬‬ When we read about Judas betraying Jesus it makes us feel negatively about Judas. Yet, we also know that it all worked together to accomplish God’s plan of salvation. What similar experience have you had? Have you betrayed someone? Have you been betrayed by someone? It seems incredible that anything positive can come from betrayal—but the result was that Jesus was crucified for our sins. This payment for our sins sets us free from the horrible punishment we deserve. So, Judas’ betrayal of Jesus, facilitated Jesus’ sacrifice and our forgiveness. May God bless you to see His good in the pain of Jesus and be confident of His good in our pain. Pastor Tim
