Today we are reading Luke 3. In this chapter we read about the ministry of John the Baptist. Listen to the words he preached to the crowds that came to be baptized in the Jordan River.“He said therefore to the crowds that came out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bear fruits in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham. Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”” Luke 3:7-9 ESV John’s words seem harsh, but the point he makes is true. We are not simply people who walk around with a religious label or heritage. We are also called to live what we believe! “Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.” Wow. No more hypocrisy. No more Christian in name only. John calls us all to be doers of the Word! How can you produce fruit today? How can you live today in a way that demonstrates God’s love and gives glory to Him? May God use you today to guide someone to Jesus! Pastor Tim
