Today we are reading Luke 22. In this chapter we read about the night when Jesus was betrayed and arrested. The keyword for this chapter is “de-ro”. The definition is “to flay, to beat, used in reference to the beating of a slave”.“Now the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking him as they beat him. They also blindfolded him and kept asking him, “Prophesy! Who is it that struck you?” And they said many other things against him, blaspheming him.”
Luke 22:63-65 ESV It is difficult for us to imagine anyone being physically violent with Jesus. The truth is he was brutally beaten. Have you ever been physically beaten? Have you ever taken a beating for someone else? Jesus did that for us and it may some day be necessary for us to do the same. How do you feel about those two realities? May God strengthen you to bear the name of Jesus with honor. Pastor Tim
