Today we are reading Luke 20. In this chapter we read about the authority of Jesus being challenged. The keyword for this chapter is “ex-ou-si-a”. The definition is “power of choice, mental or physical power, power of authority and of right, the power of rule of government”. “One day, as Jesus was teaching the people in the temple and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes with the elders came up and said to him, “Tell us by what authority you do these things, or who it is that gave you this authority.”” Luke 20:1-2 ESV In this chapter the rulers of the Jewish faith are examining Jesus’ credentials. Every person who teaches in the Temple complex must be authorized. Jesus is authorized by God the Father. When we share our faith the authority to do so comes from Jesus. Have you met opposition as you shared the Gospel? Father in Heaven help us to walk and talk in your authority. Pastor Tim
