Luke 14

Today we are reading Luke 14. In this chapter we read about what is lawful and pleasing to God. The keyword for this chapter is “mi-se-o”. The definition is “to hate, it signifies loving less”. “”If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.” Luke‬ ‭14:26‬ ‭ESV‬‬ The point of this passage is not that we should hate our family and friends but that we should love Jesus more than them. Who do you have difficulty “loving less” than Jesus? For me it is always my family but that still doesn’t justify me putting them ahead of Jesus. I must always remember to love my family less than Jesus. Otherwise, I may compromise my faith for the sake of a family member who has rejected Jesus. May God bless you and keep you! Pastor Tim
