Leviticus 5

Today we are reading Leviticus 5. In this chapter we read about guilt offerings. ““If anyone sins, doing any of the things that by the Lord’s commandments ought not to be done, though he did not know it, then realizes his guilt, he shall bear his iniquity. He shall bring to the priest a ram without blemish out of the flock, or its equivalent, for a guilt offering, and the priest shall make atonement for him for the mistake that he made unintentionally, and he shall be forgiven. It is a guilt offering; he has indeed incurred guilt before the Lord.”” Leviticus‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬-‭19‬ ‭ESV‬‬ From these words we see that a person is guilty even if they sin unintentionally. The old saying is “ignorance is no excuse”. What does that imply? We must teach the ways and words of God to everyone. Now for us there is is no need for a sacrifice because Jesus Himself is our sacrifice. So, does that mean we are off the hook? Does that mean we can live however we want with no consequences? No. We must live a life that is pleasing to Him and repent when we fall short. May you hunger and thirst for righteousness. Pastor Tim
