Today we are reading Leviticus 10. In this chapter we read about the unauthorized fire of Nadab and Abihu. “Now Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it and laid incense on it and offered unauthorized fire before the Lord, which he had not commanded them. And fire came out from before the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord. Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord has said: ‘Among those who are near me I will be sanctified, and before all the people I will be glorified.’” And Aaron held his peace.” Leviticus 10:1-3 ESV The sons of God’s great priest Aaron manipulated the burnt offerings in an unauthorized and pagan way. They tried to use the priesthood for their own benefit. Whenever we use our religious practice as a way to get worldly gain we incur the wrath of God. We of all people should use the gifts of God in a Holy way. May God guide you as you live out your faith to please Him in all your ways. Pastor Tim
