John 5

Today we are reading John 5. In this chapter we read about Jesus healing a man at the pool of Bethesda near the Temple complex. “One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.” Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked. Now that day was the Sabbath.” ‭‭John‬ ‭5:5-9‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Many years ago I heard a missionary from Africa speak on this passage. His theme was “I have no man.” This was a literal translation from the verse where the invalid says, “I have no one to put me into the pool”. I have never forgotten that message. Who are the spiritual invalids around you that have no one to guide them to Jesus? God has called you to be the one! May He give you the courage and strength to be the one today! Pastor Tim
