Today we are reading John 4. In this chapter we read about Jesus and the woman at the well. “But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things.” Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am he.”” John 4:23-26 ESV Jesus chose to reveal Himself to this particular woman. What made her special? The fact that she was a Samaritan set her at odds with Jews. The fact that she had had five husbands and now was living with a man set her at odds with God. The fact that she was woman set her at odds with cultural practices where men did not speak with strange women. Yet, Jesus chose her. That’s how He is. He doesn’t let the odds keep Him from loving us and giving His life for us. What makes you special is that He loves you and offers you His grace and mercy. Pastor Tim
