John 21

Today we are reading John 21. In this chapter we read about the post resurrection appearance to seven of His disciples in Galilee. The keyword for this chapter is “bos-ko”. The definition is “to feed as a herdsman, to tend.” “When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.” ‭‭John‬ ‭21:15-17‬ ‭ESV‬‬ In this famous passage, Jesus guides Peter back to a place of repentance and restoration. In the process Jesus asks Peter if He loves Him. When Peter says “yes” He tells Peter to feed His sheep. We can make a direct connection to loving Jesus and feeding or loving His sheep. When you feed your family members you are loving them. Who are the “sheep” that Peter is commanded to love and feed? How far did Peter go in feeding the sheep Jesus was referring to? How far will you go to feed the sheep of Jesus? May God bless you to see His sheep everywhere! Pastor Tim
