John 16

Today we are reading John 16. In this chapter we read about Jesus going away. “But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.”
‭‭John‬ ‭16‬:‭6‬-‭11‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Here Jesus says that when He goes away He will send the Holy Spirit. What will the Holy Spirit do? The Helper will convict the world of sin and righteousness and judgment. Imagine if we didn’t have the Holy Spirit! Christianity would have died with the disciples! No Old Testament prophets. No Pentecost outpouring. No equipping and empowering the apostles. No conversion of Paul. No missionary journeys. NO SCRIPTURES! Praise God that He sent the Holy Spirit! Pastor Tim
