John 13

Today we are reading John 13. In this chapter we read about Jesus demonstrating what it means to serve. The keyword for this chapter is “nip-to”. The definition is “to wash”. “Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God, rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.”
‭‭John‬ ‭13:3-5‬ ‭ESV‬‬ In the culture of that time, it was the duty of the lowest slave to wash the feet of those who came in the home.  Jesus willingly chose to wash the disciples’ feet. What is the most humiliating task you have ever had to do? Jesus chose humility in washing feet. In the very near future He would choose humility by dying on the cross for us. In what way is God calling you to choose humility in serving Jesus? Whose feet will you wash today? Pastor Tim
