Today we are reading John 11. In this chapter we read about Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. The keyword for this chapter is “da-kru-o”. The definition is “to shed tears, to burst into tears”. “Now when Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet, saying to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled. And he said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to him, “Lord, come and see.” Jesus wept.” John 11:32-35 Can you remember a time when you “burst into tears”? What was it that caused you to weep? How does it make you feel to read that Jesus also wept? Our Lord Jesus cares about us and is aware of everything we go through. We can be confident that Jesus is always with us—even when we weep. May the presence of Jesus comfort you and remind you that these troubles are temporary but God’s love is eternal. Pastor Tim
