Today we are reading Joel 1. The prophet Joel wrote in the ninth century B.C. He describes the coming Day of the Lord in comparison to a devastating plague of locusts. “Alas for the day! For the day of the Lord is near, and as destruction from the Almighty it comes. Is not the food cut off before our eyes, joy and gladness from the house of our God? The seed shrivels under the clods; the storehouses are desolate; the granaries are torn down because the grain has dried up. How the beasts groan! The herds of cattle are perplexed because there is no pasture for them; even the flocks of sheep suffer.”
Joel 1:15-18 ESV When a plague of locusts comes, everyone and everything suffers. When the people turn away from God the suffering they experience is all-encompassing like a plague of locusts. It impacts everyone around them. The elderly suffer. The children suffer. We live in such a time. How is God using you to bring healing and comfort to those who suffer? May God bless you to be a blessing in a time of sadness. Pastor Tim
