Today we are reading Jeremiah 5. In this chapter we read about the persistent rebellion of the people of Israel/Judah. “But this people has a stubborn and rebellious heart; they have turned aside and gone away. They do not say in their hearts, ‘Let us fear the Lord our God, who gives the rain in its season, the autumn rain and the spring rain, and keeps for us the weeks appointed for the harvest.’ Your iniquities have turned these away, and your sins have kept good from you.” Jeremiah 5:23-25 ESV What happens to a person who persists in breaking our laws? Eventually the authorities and the courts catch up with that person. Penalties are paid. Freedoms are taken away. Reputations are ruined. And, society is protected from the pain and chaos created by the law breaker. What happens to a person who persists in breaking God’s Law? If they repent they are forgiven. If they do not repent they will suffer. May God use you to turn the rebellious one back to Jesus! Pastor Tim
