Today we are reading Jeremiah 49. In this chapter we read about God’s judgement against Ammon, Edom, Damascus, Hazor, Kedar and Elam—neighbors to the east and north of Israel. “Therefore, behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will cause the battle cry to be heard against Rabbah of the Ammonites; it shall become a desolate mound, and its villages shall be burned with fire; then Israel shall dispossess those who dispossessed him, says the Lord.” Jeremiah 49:2 ESV Why do you think God is pronouncing judgement on all of the surrounding nations? Each of these nations has their own pagan god. Each of these nations has exploited Israel when they were crushed by the Assyrians and Babylonians. Each of these nations has gloated over Israel’s downfall. God protects us from those who would do us harm. God is aware of our enemies. May you rest in His peace. Pastor Tim
