Today we are reading Jeremiah 38. In this chapter we read about another instance where Jeremiah is arrested for proclaiming the word of God. “So they took Jeremiah and cast him into the cistern of Malchiah, the king’s son, which was in the court of the guard, letting Jeremiah down by ropes. And there was no water in the cistern, but only mud, and Jeremiah sank in the mud.”
Jeremiah 38:6 ESV Can you imagine the emotions of Jeremiah? Your own countrymen are betraying you and throwing you in prison. Imagine sinking into the muddy darkness of a cistern. In that hopeless misery God sent Jeremiah someone to deliver him—a slave named Ebed-melech. What an unlikely source of help! What is the most unlikely source from which God has helped you? How can God use you to help someone sinking in the muddy darkness? May God put on your heart today the name of someone who needs you. Pastor Tim
