Today we are reading Jeremiah 37. In this chapter we read about Jeremiah’s arrest and imprisonment. “And the officials were enraged at Jeremiah, and they beat him and imprisoned him in the house of Jonathan the secretary, for it had been made a prison.” Jeremiah 37:15 ESV After faithfully proclaiming the prophecies of God Jeremiah is arrested and beaten by Irijah, who guarded the Benjamin gate. Jeremiah suffered greatly at the hands of stubborn people. What God gave him to say made his hearers angry. Have you ever been angry at someone for telling you the truth? Why would God send a prophet to people who have turned their backs on Him? Have you reached out to people who have turned their back on you? What does God want us to do when people sin against us?
