Jeremiah 35

Today we are reading Jeremiah 35. In this chapter we read about the Rechabites and how God used them as an illustration to describe the people of Judah in their disobedience. “I have sent to you all my servants the prophets, sending them persistently, saying, ‘Turn now every one of you from his evil way, and amend your deeds, and do not go after other gods to serve them, and then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to you and your fathers.’ But you did not incline your ear or listen to me. The sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have kept the command that their father gave them, but this people has not obeyed me.” Jeremiah‬ ‭35:15-16‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Here God lifts up the example of obedience of one group of people and contrasts it with the disobedience of another group. What is the point of His comparison? What does God desire as an outcome? When God’s word offends you what is the His purpose? May you truly wrestle with God as He speaks to your heart. Pastor Tim
