Jeremiah 28

Today we are reading Jeremiah 28. In this chapter we read about the false prophet Hananiah and how God feels when people lie in His name. “And Jeremiah the prophet said to the prophet Hananiah, “Listen, Hananiah, the Lord has not sent you, and you have made this people trust in a lie. Therefore thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, I will remove you from the face of the earth. This year you shall die, because you have uttered rebellion against the Lord.'” In that same year, in the seventh month, the prophet Hananiah died.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭28:15-17‬ ‭ESV‬‬ So, it is clear that God takes it very seriously when people speak lies and claim it is His word. We do not have the freedom as God’s people to contradict the Bible. If we do, we stand the risk of receiving the same punishment as Hananiah. How can you guard against teaching what is false? How can you protect yourself from following a false prophet? Pastor Tim
