Today we are reading Jeremiah 20. In this chapter we read about how Jeremiah is persecuted by a priest of the Temple of the Lord. “Now Pashhur the priest, the son of Immer, who was chief officer in the house of the Lord, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things. Then Pashhur beat Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the upper Benjamin Gate of the house of the Lord.” Jeremiah 20:1-2 ESV Have you ever been persecuted? How did you respond? For me, if I can understand clearly why I am persecuted and what is at stake, I am willing to suffer. One time I was persecuted for making an unpopular staffing change. The pain was terrible but in so doing I protected children who were being harmed. Knowing I was protecting children gave me the courage to take the beating. May God give you the boldness to always do the right thing. Pastor Tim
