Today we are reading Jeremiah 2. In this chapter we read about Israel forsaking God.“Has a nation changed its gods, even though they are no gods? But my people have changed their glory for that which does not profit.”
Jeremiah 2:11 ESV The people, for whom God has done so much, have worshipped the false gods of their pagan neighbors. In response, God allows them to suffer and be mistreated by powerful armies of Assyria and Egypt. Often we look at the sinfulness of our country and wonder when God will allow the same course of events. For this reason we continue to pray for our country to walk in ways that are pleasing to God.
