Today we are reading Jeremiah 19. In this chapter we read about the prophet Jeremiah making a vivid illustration of God’s destruction of Israel/Judah by breaking a pottery flask. “Then Jeremiah came from Topheth, where the Lord had sent him to prophesy, and he stood in the court of the Lord ‘s house and said to all the people: “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, behold, I am bringing upon this city and upon all its towns all the disaster that I have pronounced against it, because they have stiffened their neck, refusing to hear my words.”” Jeremiah 19:14-15 ESV Jeremiah is God’s prophet warning the people to stop rebelling against God. He is like a stop sign warning drivers of potential danger ahead. If we ignore the sign we risk injury and damage to our vehicle. If we ignore God’s warning we risk much more.
