Today we are reading James 5. In this chapter we read about prayer in a time of suffering. “Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” James 5:13-16 ESV Have you ever called for the church to come and anoint you with oil and pray for your healing? What is the connection between sin and sickness? Clearly, not all sickness is caused by our sins, but could it be that some sickness is the result of our refusal to confess and repent of our sins? If you have bitter resentment towards someone, how does that impact your relationship with Jesus? Is it okay to refuse to forgive someone who has hurt you? Forgiveness brings with it wellness in all areas of our life. May God give you complete healing in Jesus’ name. Pastor Tim
