Today we are reading James 3. In this chapter we read about the importance of being careful in what we say. The keyword for this chapter is “glos-sa”. The definition is “tongue”. “For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.” James 3:7-8 It is very easy to understand the danger James is warning about. Think of the most hurtful thing anyone has ever said to you. Do those words still hurt today? Forgive them and pray for God to heal the pain and erase the memory. Loosen your grip on those memories and let them go. Think of the worst thing you’ve ever said to someone. Did they cause pain? Confess your sin and ask the person for forgiveness. Ask God to help you guard your tongue in Jesus’ name. Pastor Tim
