Today we are reading James 3. In this chapter we read about the importance of controlling our tongue. “Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well. Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs.” James 3:1-4 ESV The author of Hebrews is brutally honest! He says, “For we all stumble in many ways.” As I think back I remember how I have mis-spoken, exaggerated, said hurtful things and even said things that were not true. I wish I could take them all back! Maybe you feel the same. Maybe you have hurt someone or deceived someone. We know that Jesus promises to forgive us when we confess our sins. Have you confessed those things? If so, let them go and receive God’s grace. We are also called to reconcile with those we have hurt. This is the hard part. This is also where God works beautifully! Trust Him to give you peace-making words to heal old wounds. Pastor Tim
