James 2

Today we are reading James 2. In this chapter James talks about the relationship between faith and works. “What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.” James‬ ‭2‬:‭14‬-‭18‬, ‭26‬ ‭ESV‬‬ When you think of someone who is strong in their faith, how would you describe them? Wouldn’t you talk about their works? Wouldn’t you talk about how they are always in church, attend Bible Study, hold office in the church, help people in need? It is literally impossible for a person to have a relationship with Jesus and not have it come out in the things they do. How is your faith present in your words, choices, and the way you conduct yourself? May your faith be evident in all you do! Pastor Tim
