Today we are reading Isaiah 7. In this chapter we read about the threat of enemies coming to invade Judah/Jerusalem. “When the house of David was told, “Syria is in league with Ephraim,” the heart of Ahaz and the heart of his people shook as the trees of the forest shake before the wind.” Isaiah 7:2 ESV These invaders are coming from the north and they have recruited the Israelites of the northern kingdom (Ephraim) to fight against their own brothers of the southern kingdom. The king of Judah/Jerusalem and all his people are terrified. God gives King Ahaz direction in his time of crisis. While it is difficult for us to comprehend being invaded we to have gone through a time of crisis. How do you respond when you are afraid? God does not abandon us when we go through a crisis. Even when it’s self-inflicted as in the case of Judah/Jerusalem. When I am in crisis I find myself holding onto the basic truths I believe about God and his love for me. What promises do you hold onto? God be with you today and every day! Pastor Tim
