Today we are concluding the Book of Isaiah with chapter 66. In this chapter Isaiah writes how God will comfort the humble and repentant person and how He will destroy all who rebel against Him. “Thus says the Lord: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest? All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares the Lord. But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word. “For behold, the Lord will come in fire, and his chariots like the whirlwind, to render his anger in fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. For by fire will the Lord enter into judgment, and by his sword, with all flesh; and those slain by the Lord shall be many.” Isaiah 66:1-2, 15-16 ESV Isaiah concludes his prophecy with a powerful description of God and His power and authority. Imagine, God almighty is most favorably disposed toward “he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word”. What about the people who are powerful in worldly ways? Those who rebel against God and say His word has no place in our governance or who mock God and publicly blaspheme will be utterly destroyed. “For behold, the Lord will come in fire, and with His chariots like the whirlwind, to render His anger in fury, and His rebuke with flames of fire.” May Gods bless you to be humble and contrite and to always stand on His word.
