Isaiah 5

Today we are reading Isaiah 5. In this chapter the prophet compares rebellious Israel to a vineyard that produces bad grapes. The behavior of the rebellious reminds us of the social trends of today. “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight!” Isaiah‬ ‭5:20-21‬ ‭ESV‬‬ I remember when my sister was learning to bake. She was making an apple pie and substituted salt for sugar. How do you think that pie tasted? When we rebel against God that is how our behavior appears to Him. Everything is backwards. Everything is based on our own sinful desires, rather than His Holy and perfect commandments. The result is a chaotic pain-filled world. God’s desire is for us to have peaceful lives filled with good things. His grace makes this life possible. May you rejoice in God’s mercy and grace! Pastor Tim
