Today we are reading Isaiah 48. In this chapter we read about God refining Israel. “”For my name’s sake I defer my anger; for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you, that I may not cut you off. Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tried you in the furnace of affliction. For my own sake, for my own sake, I do it, for how should my name be profaned? My glory I will not give to another.” Isaiah 48:9-11 ESV In these verses God says that He refines Israel through the furnace of affliction. God’s people were obstinate and rebellious. So, God allows them to suffer so that they might be saved through repentance. This is to God’s glory. How has God refined you through affliction? How has God been glorified in your time of suffering? When you are discouraged begin counting the blessings God has given you. You will find yourself overwhelmed by His love for you and His mercy. God is blessing you today! Pastor Tim
