Today we are reading Isaiah 47. In this chapter we read about the certain destruction of Babylon by God. “Come down and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon; sit on the ground without a throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans! For you shall no more be called tender and delicate.” Isaiah 47:1 Throughout this chapter we read about the reversal of fortune for the Babylonians. First, they are useful to God in disciplining His wayward children. Next, God punishes them for their excessive cruelty toward His people. What can we conclude? When we rebel against God He will use any means necessary to discipline us. However, even when He disciplines us God still loves us. When we humble ourselves before God He is gracious and merciful and will lift us up and heal us. Pastor Tim
