Today we are reading Isaiah 4. In this brief chapter we read about the small remnant of God’s people who have remained faithful. They are referred to as “the branch of the Lord”. “In that day the branch of the Lord shall be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land shall be the pride and honor of the survivors of Israel. And he who is left in Zion and remains in Jerusalem will be called holy, everyone who has been recorded for life in Jerusalem,”
Isaiah 4:2-3 ESV Yesterday we were doing yard work raking up leaves and picking up branches. A branch is as small fraction of the total tree but in this chapter the branch is all that remains. Most of the tree (most of God’s people) have fallen away. The small branch that remains is very precious to God and their names are “recorded for life”. As we ponder these words it is hard for us not to think of that loved-one who has wandered from the faith. May God bring them back and restore their faith. Pastor Tim
