Today we are reading Isaiah 38. In this chapter we read about Hezekiah’s sickness. “In those days Hezekiah became sick and was at the point of death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said to him, “Thus says the Lord: Set your house in order, for you shall die, you shall not recover.” Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, and said, “Please, O Lord, remember how I have walked before you in faithfulness and with a whole heart, and have done what is good in your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.” Isaiah 38:1-3 ESV What would you do if you were Hezekiah? I once faced my death when I was lost in the woods of northern Minnesota. Temperatures were in the teens and it was after dark. I made a little shelter and, after much effort, started a fire. My thoughts turned to the possibility of dying. I got choked up a little and then was comforted by thoughts of Heaven. Then I thought of my wife and little girls. I didn’t want to leave them without a husband and father. That was the hardest part. Hezekiah prayed and God spared his life. For a purpose—that he serve as a faithful king. God has given you the life you have. How will you serve Him? Pastor Tim
