Today we are reading Isaiah 36. In this chapter we read about the confrontation between Sennacherib, King of Assyria and Hezekiah, King of Judah. After a hostile verbal attack from Sennacherib’s representative, this is the response of Hezekiah. “But they were silent and answered him not a word, for the king’s command was, “Do not answer him.” Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the secretary, and Joah the son of Asaph, the recorder, came to Hezekiah with their clothes torn, and told him the words of the Rabshakeh.” Isaiah 36:21-22 ESV How do you respond when people are hostile to you? What is the value in silence? Have you ever felt like no matter how you respond your adversary will be hostile? Blessed are the peacemakers. Seek God’s wisdom and he will guide you through difficult conversations. Pastor Tim
