Isaiah 17

Today we are reading Isaiah 17. In this chapter we read about God’s judgement against Damascus and the Syrians. This region is north and east of Israel. Notice the effect of God’s punishment: “In that day man will look to his Maker, and his eyes will look on the Holy One of Israel. He will not look to the altars, the work of his hands, and he will not look on what his own fingers have made, either the Asherim or the altars of incense.” Isaiah‬ ‭17:7-8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ God’s punishment has its desired impact—the conquering Syrians are humbled to the point of turning away from their false gods and idols. Have you gone through a period of humiliation? How did that experience impact your faith-life? May God help you to know the Holy One of Israel! Pastor Tim
