Isaiah 17

Today we are reading Isaiah 17. In this chapter we read about the word from God condemning Damascus and the nation of Syria. The great conquerors will be crushed by God. “In that day man will look to his Maker, and his eyes will look on the Holy One of Israel. He will not look to the altars, the work of his hands, and he will not look on what his own fingers have made, either the Asherim or the altars of incense.” Isaiah‬ ‭17:7-8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ The result of the destruction will be that everyone will turn away from their useless false gods to the one true God. The expression is clear, “man will look to his Maker,”. In our present troubles we must look to our Maker! Imagine if our whole nation did that!! What would change? If everything besides God is taken away, what will you do? Perhaps God is helping us feel the urgency of the call to go and make disciples. Time is running out. Now is the moment of salvation! Now is the time to share the message of God’s love and mercy! Pastor Tim
