Today we are reading Hebrews 8. In this chapter we read about how the New Covenant is superior to the Old Covenant. “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall not teach, each one his neighbor and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.”” Hebrews 8:10-12 ESV We often hear of something that is “new and improved”. We know that this is usually a sales tactic to sell more products. What was better about the New Covenant? Remember the Old Covenant was based on the Law of God = the 10 Commandments. God promised blessings for obedience. The people failed on their part. The New Covenant is based on grace. Our sins are forgiven in Jesus’ name and because He paid for them on the cross. Where does obedience fit in with the New Covenant? Why do we as Christians obey God? May God bless you today with a spirit of obedience! Pastor Tim
