Today we are reading Hebrews 6. In this chapter we read about the hope that we have in Jesus. “So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.” Hebrews 6:17-20 The words of these passages stack up like a mighty fortification to protect us from spiritual harm: convincingly, unchangeable, guaranteed, encouragement, steadfast anchor. These words tell us that our hope is rock-solid! Our faith in Jesus is not like our faith in our sports team or our politics. Humanly speaking, “hope” is a frail thing. However, when the object of our hope is God and His promises then we need to qualify “hope” with the strongest words we know! “On Christ, the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.” Pastor Tim
