Today we are reading Genesis 24. In this chapter we read about Abraham’s servant searching for a wife for Isaac. “Her brother and her mother said, “Let the young woman remain with us a while, at least ten days; after that she may go.” But he said to them, “Do not delay me, since the Lord has prospered my way. Send me away that I may go to my master.” They said, “Let us call the young woman and ask her.” And they called Rebekah and said to her, “Will you go with this man?” She said, “I will go.”” Genesis 24:55-58 ESV The marriage customs of ancient people seem very strange to us. The marriage was a covenant between two families. The representatives of the families negotiated and made an agreement for the man and woman to marry. With such powerful social directives the families were very strong. The amazing thing is that Isaac loved Rebekah! This was definitely a marriage put together by God. How have you been guided in your relationships? Is God directing your choices? May you love your spouse the way Isaac loved Rebekah! Pastor Tim
