Today we are reading Galatians 5. In this chapter Paul writes about our inner battle between the things of the Spirit and the things of the flesh. The keyword for this chapter is “epi-thu-me-o”. The definition is “to desire, to yearn, to long for, to set your heart upon. The use of the verb brings the more active side of the lust of the flesh.” “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.” Galatians 5:16-17 ESV What desires of the flesh do you struggle with? Where in you life does God want you to pursue Him more and the things of the flesh less? How have the desires if the flesh brought pain into your life? How have the desires of the Spirit brought good fruit into your life? God bless you today and every day as you pursue the desires of the Spirit! Pastor Tim
