Today we are reading Galatians 5. In this chapter we learn about the works of the flesh and the fruit of the spirit. “Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”
Galatians 5:19-24 ESV Look at the first list—the one with all the various sins. Which are the most difficult for you? Which are the most prevalent in our country? Now look at the second list. Which of the fruits are most important to you? The essence of our Christian life has to do with leaving the first list and watching the second bloom in your life.
