Today we read Exodus 40. In this chapter we read about the first time Moses set up the Tabernacle and the Glory of God that filled it. “Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. Throughout all their journeys, whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the people of Israel would set out. But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not set out till the day that it was taken up. For the cloud of the Lord was on the tabernacle by day, and fire was in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel throughout all their journeys.” Exodus 40:34-38 ESV I have always been fascinated with the description of God’s abiding glory. Common things—fire and a cloud—were used to indicate God’s presence. The presence of God gave them a sense of security and confidence. We too have God presence with us. Not with a fire or cloud but with His promise. How does it make you feel to know God is with you? Are there times you doubt His presence? Sometimes I wish I could see Him but He has given me plenty of evidence that He is with me! May you be secure and confident in God’s promised presence. Pastor Tim
