Today we are reading Ephesians 5. In this chapter Paul urges the Ephesians to live Godly lives. The keyword for this chapter is “mi-may-tays”. The definition is “imitator”. “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:1-2 ESV With these words Paul commands us to imitate God! That is a pretty high bar! Then Paul breaks it down for us a little and highlights God’s love—that agape love. In effect Paul is commanding us to love everyone He loves in the self-sacrificing way He loves. This imitation also includes staying away from sexual immorality, all impurity and covetousness. In your experience, how have you felt the pain of sin? What is the impact of indulging in sin on your life? How have you found success in resisting temptation? What is your strategy for resisting sin today? May God you the strength and the will to imitate Him! Pastor Tim
