Today we are reading Colossians 2. In this chapter we read about Paul writing against the legalistic religion of his time. “See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.” Colossians 2:8, 16-17 There is an important difference between man made rules and guidelines from God’s word. How have you observed man made rules in the church? Do they help or hinder you in your faith. Any form of practice In the church must serve the Gospel. It is always okay to make adjustments in our man made ways of doing things but we can never set aside God’s word or contradict it. May God guide you in every aspect of your faith. Pastor Tim
