Today we are reading Acts 5. In this chapter we find the story of Ananias and Sapphira. This couple was dishonest and received a severe punishment for their dishonesty. The keyword for this chapter is “speu-do-mai”. The definition for this word is “to lie, to lie to someone”. Why do you think the penalty for lying was so severe in the early church? When was the last time you told a lie? How do you feel when you are lied to? What does lying do to a relationship?
