Today we are reading Acts 27. In this chapter we read about Paul’s arduous voyage to Rome where he will be on trial before the emperor. The keyword for this chapter is “e-pi-sfa-lays”. The definition is “dangerous”. “Since much time had passed, and the voyage was now dangerous because even the Fast was already over, Paul advised them saying, “Sirs, I perceive that the voyage will be with injury and much loss, not only of the cargo and the ship, but also of our lives.”” Acts 27:9-10 In that region a voyage after mid September was thought risky and after December 11 dangerous. The Fast on the Day of Atonement of 59 AD was October 5th. As Luke, the author of Acts, uses this word to describe Paul’s voyage, notice how God does not abandon him when everything seems hopeless and out of control. How has God helped you through dangerous times? What can you learn from how Paul faced adversity? May God’s promise to be with you give you comfort and strength today and every day! Pastor Tim
