Today we are reading Acts 25. In this chapter Paul testifies before a second governor and King Agrippa. “Now three days after Festus had arrived in the province, he went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea. And the chief priests and the principal men of the Jews laid out their case against Paul, and they urged him, asking as a favor against Paul that he summon him to Jerusalem—because they were planning an ambush to kill him on the way. Festus replied that Paul was being kept at Caesarea and that he himself intended to go there shortly. “So,” said he, “let the men of authority among you go down with me, and if there is anything wrong about the man, let them bring charges against him.”” Acts 25:1-5 ESV In order to avoid the treachery of the Jews, Paul invokes his rights of Roman citizenship—he appeals to Caesar. This means he has the right to have his case heard in the imperial court and not some corrupt Jewish rigged trial. How does your citizenship give you rights to avoid treachery and false accusations? I believe that God also hears our prayers and knows the devil’s schemes and is more than able to protect and provide for us. May God keep you safe and confident in His mighty power! Pastor Tim
