Acts 23

Today we are reading Acts 23. In this chapter we read about Paul on trial before the Sanhedrin or Jewis Supreme Court. During his trial he is being falsely accused and as a countermeasure he asks a question that causes a split in the court.  an uproar ensues and Paul has to be rescued from the mob again!  The Keyword in this chapter is “su-stro-fay”.  The definition is, “conspiracy, plot, a plan devised by a number of persons who agree to act against someone.” This word is used by the author Luke to describe the plot of the Jews to kill Paul. “When it was day, the Jews made a plot and bound themselves by an oath neither to eat nor drink till they had killed Paul. There were more than forty who made this conspiracy.” Acts 23:12-13. Paul becomes aware of this threat but has already been comforted by Jesus promising that he would testify in Rome and the plot would not be successful.  Have you ever had someone plot against you?  Have you had moments of fear?  How do the words of Jesus to Paul also comfort you?  You are God’s chosen instrument to proclaim the Gospel wherever you go!  God bless you!  Pastor Tim
