Today we are reading Acts 13. In this chapter we read about about Paul and Barnabas beginning their first missionary journey. “Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a lifelong friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off. So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus. When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John to assist them.” Acts 13:1-5 ESV Have you ever been on a mission trip? If you have not, l will help you understand what it is like. Prior to the trip there is a lot of anticipation mixed with anxiety. During the trip you likely will encounter new challenges you have never faced. After the trip you will have many memories and a lasting impact on your faith. What do you think the trip was like for John Mark? He was a young man without the life experience of Paul and Barnabas. What do you think he learned on this first trip? May God give you courage and strength for the mission trip you are on. Pastor Tim
